We use high-quality tools and materials in everything we make. The following list details some of the products that we use.
Why Does It Matter?
Using high quality materials creates beautiful products that are meant to last.
The Tools
We use Barry King and Craftool Pro stamps to tool the designs on our products. Each piece is hand tooled and are all unique.
The Leather
Each of our products are made with quality grade leather including cowhide, calfskin, and kidskin.
The thickness (or weight) of leather is usually measured in terms of ounces. One ounce equals approximately 1/64" in thickness. Thus, 7-8 oz. means the leather is 7 to 8 oz. in weight or 7/64" to 8/64", making it approximately 1/8" thick. Lighter weight leather such as calf or kip (large calf) range from 1.5 oz. to 3-4 oz. Heavier leathers, 4-5 oz. to 10-11 oz. and more are from the hides of mature cattle. (Source: Tandy Leather)
Lacing/Stitching
Using quality lacing and thread ensures not only longevity of the product but also an appealing look. We use calf lace, kangaroo lace and waxed bonded nylon thread.
Hardware
Our snaps, buckles, clasps, rivets, and zippers accent the pieces and provide not only functionality but accentuate the look of the product. The hardware we use may be nickel plated, gold plated or solid brass depending on the desired look or strength requirements.
Dye, Finish, Antiquing
Each item is individually accented by antiquing and/or dye and are finished using various Fiebing's finishes. This assures the item retains its look longer and provides some protection from the elements.
